School Districts
We know that finding good schools for your children is critical to your home buying decision. Dakota County offers excellent educational opportunities with its 11 school districts. Below is a brief recap of each and links to their websites:

Burnsville- Eagan-Savage, ISD #191
District 191 serves portions of Burnsville, Eagan, Savage, Apple Valley and Shakopee. The district has 10 elementary schools, three junior highs and two high schools, one traditional and one alternative. Starting in September 2009 class sizes will decrease at all levels due to the passing of a levy referendum.
Cannon Falls Public Schools, ISD 252
Serving the community of Cannon Falls, District 252 has one elementary school, one middle schools, one high school and an alternative learning center.
Farmington Public Schools, ISD 192
District 192 serves the communities of Farmington, Lakeville and surrounding townships. It has a kindergarten center, four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
Hastings Public Schools, ISD 200
District 200 serves the communities of Hampton, Hastings, Miesville, New Trier, Vermillion and all or a portion of the townships of Denmark, Douglas, Hampton, Marshan, Nininger and Ravenna. It includes a kindergarten center, three elementary schools, one middle schools and a recently built high school.
Inver Grove Heights Public Schools, ISD 199
The district includes three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. a fee-based full-day kindergarten program is offered in addition to half-day kindergarten. Atheneum, a magnet program for highly-gifted students, began in 2002. The program serves students in grades two through five and is followed by honors and advanced courses in middle school and high school.
Lakeville Public Schools, ISD 194
ISD 194 covers 86 square miles, including most of Lakeville, parts of Burnsville and Elko New Market, and portions of Eureka, Credit River and New Market Townships. There are nine elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. Our second high school, Lakeville South High School, opened in the 2005-6 school year.
Northfield Public Schools, ISD 659
District 659 serves Northfield and northern Rice and southern Dakota counties with three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and an area learning center.
Randolph Public Schools, ISD 195
The school is located in Randolph near Lake Byllesby. The district stretches to the north to Hampton, south a little past Stanton, east to Cannon Falls and west to Castle Rock.
Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan, ISD #196
District 196 is the state’s fourth largest school district and serves all or part of the communities of Rosemount, Apple Valley, Eagan, Burnsville, Coates, Inver Grove Heights, and Lakeville, along with the townships of Empire, and Vermillion. There are 18 elementary schools, six middle schools and five high schools. The schools include three magnet elementary schools focusing on arts and science, international studies and science/technology/engineering/math (STEM), and one high school (grades 11 and 12) focusing on environmental studies.
South St. Paul Public Schools, Special District 6
South St. Paul has two elementary schools, a 7-12 high school with 7-8 middle school setting and a community learning center that provides alternative education.
West Saint Paul Public Schools ISD 197
District 197 serves West St. Paul, Mendota Heights and Eagan with five elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school.
